Apple has released iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5: Here are the compatible devices

Apple has released iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5: Here are the compatible devices. The release was made public after a week of testing and it's arriving approximately two weeks one month and two weeks after the iOS 15.4.1 was made public.

For those with compatible iDevices, they can download and install the OTA update which is about 630 MB by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.

These new iOS and iPadOS updates provide the option for Apple Cash customers to send and request money from their Apple Cash card with the  Wallet app. Second, the Apple Podcasts app includes a new setting to limit episodes stored on your device and automatically delete older ones.

One thing that is new about this light update is the feature that allows you to change the settings in your podcast app to better manage your phone's storage. The setting allows you to limit the episodes stored on your phone and can automatically delete older episodes.

Also, iOS 15.5 reintroduces an Apple Music API that allows third-party Apple Music players to change the playback speeds of songs. The API was removed in iOS 15.4, but it is being put back in iOS 15.5.

Again, based on the information from MacRumours, The "Apple Classical" app that Apple has in development to complement ‌Apple Music‌ was referenced in the beta version of iOS 15.5 but did not launch in the final public release.

The iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 also addresses more than 25 security fixes, none of which were being actively exploited to Apple's knowledge, but still - if you want to apply the 'better safe than sorry' logic, you need to consider updating as soon as possible.
