Apple releases iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 with new emojis and wallpapers

 Apple has just released iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 to the public and some compatible iOS users can already benefit from it. This new iOS version comes with a set of new emojis, wallpapers and many others as well as bug fixes. Also, iOS 12.4.9 for some older iPhones has been released.

The new iOS 14.2 brings revamped now playing controls to the lock screen alongside redesigned AirPlay 2 controls in Control Center. 

Also, iOS 14.2 also comes with battery charging optimisation feature to AirPods and AirPods Pro. This feature is designed to reduce battery ageing and extend the overall lifespan of your AirPods’ battery. 

iOS 14.1 was released just a couple of weeks back and now, all those whose devices were compatible with the iOS 14.1 can update to iOS 14.2 or iPadOS 14.2 for those with iPads.

For those with supported devices listed below, they will be able to update to this version by going to Settings > General > Software update. Alternatively, you can download the IPSW file and flash with iTunes or 3utools while retaining your user data(suitable of your device is running low in storage).

Another new feature with the iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 is Intercom. Intercom allows family members to communicate with one another in the home by sending and receiving spoken messages through HomePod speakers or through iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and CarPlay. 

Intercom can be activated by saying "Hey ‌Siri‌, Intercom" to activate it, followed by a message, and it can even be used when people are away from home.

Ability to hide Home Screen pages to get to the App Library even faster by tapping on the dots at the bottom of the screen while in jiggle mode

Compact design

Incoming Phone and FaceTime calls appear as a banner at the top of the screen

App clips

The new Translate app is designed for conversations and can work completely offline so your conversations stay private
A split-screen design in conversation mode has a single microphone button that automatically detects which of the selected languages is being spoken and transcribes the original and translated text on the correct sides of the screen
Attention mode shows translations in the larger text so you can capture someone's attention
