Apple seeded iOS 14 for developers on the 22 of June 2020 and it comes with some new feature you may like. And the one that caught our attention was the new accessibility feature. iOS 14 Adds Accessibility feature allows you to perform actions by tapping on your iPhone.

To use this feature, you will have to either tipple-tap or double-tap on the back of your iPhone. And it can be used to access Control Center, Notification Center, the Lock screen, the Home screen, or the App Switcher, or it can change the volume, bring up Siri, mute the ‌iPhone‌, take a screenshot, or access a Shortcut.

And another good aspect about this "Back Tap" feature is that it can also be set up to work with a number of Accessibility features like Assistive Touch, Magnifier, or VoiceOver.

Setting the Back Tap feature in order to use the accessibility option is very simple. All you have to do is;

  1. Open Settings
  2. Next, go to Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap
  3. Choose an action for the double-tap as well as the triple-tap.
We also have other interesting new features on the iOS 14. Apple unveiled this upcoming iOS version during the annual WWDC keynote. And as it is now, it is available for developers to test.

Some other new features available for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 are;
  • An improved VoiceOver with support for image descriptions, text recognition, and screen recognition, as well as Headphone Accommodations that can amplify soft sounds and adjust certain frequencies for music, movies, phone calls, podcasts, and more.
  • Now taking a call on iPad no longer brings up the full-screen interface. Instead, a notification appears on-screen that doesn't cover content, which can also be quickly flicked away.
  • Changes in iPadOS Music app
  • Still, on iPadOS, Photos has been enhanced to make it easier to browse, using a new sidebar.
  • Privacy enhancement
  • International dictionary added
  • Changes made to the Home screen, CarKey, Siri, Apple Maps and much more.
