The new iPhone SE was made available a couple of days back and some iOS users have already pinpointed an aspect that for some, it's going to "leave a bad taste in their mouth". Unlike the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, the Haptic Touch doesn't work for notifications on the iPhone SE 2020. And according to some sources, this isn't a bug as Apple themself have confirmed it.
A complaint about this was spotted on Reddit community Apple
On the iPhone 11 series where this feature is supported, long-pressing on a notification in the Notification Center or the Lock screen brings up additional interactive options for the app sending the notification. As such depending on the app, you could use this feature for quick replies for example.I received my SE yesterday and very quickly realized that Haptic Touch is not supported on notifications. I am not seeing this reported anywhere, haven’t seen one review mentioning it, no video I watched mentioned it. Haptic Touch works for peeking and pop, and on icons on the home screen but if you are on the lock screen or Notification Center and try to long-press an email to archive, or a text to quick reply you are out of luck.On the 6S-XS 3D Touch was the solution, with the XR and 11 series Haptic Touch was the replacement, but this is the first non-3D Touch phone to be released where all the features of Haptic Touch are not fully baked into the OSI called Apple Support and they confirmed this is true and there is no software update planned to change this behaviour.Want to make sure everyone knows about this as it’s a basic function of the phone and I’m not seeing any coverage about it on any news sites or any reviews. Thanks.
To confirm this, Matthew Panzarino from Techcrunch also noted this where here posted on a tweet on Twitter.
Fwiw. this is not a bug. It's not an ideal situation for me (I use notification actions dozens of times a day every day). Haptic works in many other ways on iPhone SE, but not on notifications. https://t.co/2SqFKKGlZG— Matthew Panzarino (@panzer) April 27, 2020
